123Movies - "The Prestige" (2006)

After watching two "Batmen" by Christopher Nolan, I wanted to see other masterpieces of this Director. Hands reached the movie "Prestige". I would like to say that this is the best movie from Nolan that I have ever seen!

This movie is difficult to break down into certain categories like: directing, acting and plot because when you watch this work, your thoughts go somewhere far away and you just want to enjoy the film. After all, this is pure magic, which is a pleasure to watch. What Nolan does is play with your mind and perception of reality, making you wonder at his talent and genius. Unfortunately, movies like Prestige are one in a million.

Nolan has created a movie that will make you watch it in one breath, wondering what it will end up with. And the ending, take my word for it, is unpredictable. If you guessed it half an hour before the end of the film, then you are either a genius with an IQ above 160, although this is the theoretical limit, or one of the writers of "Prestige". The Director did everything that was necessary: attracted actors with whom he worked before (bale and Kane), showed a live England of the 19th century and the confrontation of two friends who became enemies, because of the death of a loved one through the fault of the other. Christopher Nolan continues to prove to us that he is not an empty place in cinema and that there is not even a thought to doubt his talent.

I would like to note the dramatic component of the film. When our heroes try to spoil each other's ideas and guess what the prestige of their rival's trick is, they completely forget about their lovers. Christopher Nolan knows how to select Actresses for their roles. Scarlett Johansson played the sexual assistant of Hugh Jackman's character, while Rebecca Hall got used to the role of a simple woman who is the wife of Christian Bale's character. Both played with dignity and claims to make to the game of these two representatives of the fair sex do not see the point. I believe that Nolan specifically "stuck" these characters in this film(if the author of the novel did not do it before), in order to show how much the illusionists are obsessed with guessing each other's trick and that they are ready to do anything for the sake of their competitor's prestige. And the dramatic component is that both characters are "blind". They live as in a primitive society, where the main unspoken rule — "an eye for an eye" and do not see that if you do not come to your senses — you can lose the most precious thing you have.

Absolutely no questions to the game of the main characters performed by Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. Both actors made a huge impression on me with their performance. Jackman managed to show and convey the feelings of his character to the audience, namely: bitterness over the loss of his wife; hatred for the man who was responsible for her death and indifference to everything, not counting the prestige of his "colleague". Bale was even more startled. I don't know how he does it, but his illusionist is much more charismatic than Jackman's. He can show his character from all sides and make it so that his character will be liked whether he is good or bad. I can't put into words the versatility of these two brilliant actors.

The atmosphere in the film is at a height. The spirit of 19th-century England is well represented by suitable costumes and sets. The most interesting thing is to watch the performance of our heroes. How many people come to see a couple of tricks. In England, at the final of the "Champions League" so many people in pubs are not recruited as on their show. I'm being ironic, of course. Nolan did a great job combining all of the above and... making no mistakes.

I would like to say a few words about the younger Nolan. Jonathan Nolan did just as important a job as his older brother. He wrote the script. I don't know how to evaluate it, but if you evaluate it from the dialogues, they are delicious. They[Chris and John] just two brothers-acrobats in the arena of world cinema. If I were their father, I would be very proud of my children. They "play" together and at the same time create a world masterpiece that every movie lover should see.

What we have in the end:

- Beautiful story

- Amazing acting

- Excellent work by both Nolan's

- Beautiful scenery and costumes

If you have already watched this movie, the rating for you ranges from 8.5 to 9 (depends on whether you are interested in watching this movie more than once or not). But if you haven't seen it — then…
